A library worth studying

If a picture is worth 1,000 words, what is the worth of a library that will house 10,000 books?

Villa Collina, Tennessee’s largest home, is home to a three-story library capable of displaying 10,000 books, among them unique first editions and antique book collections. To protect these rarities, the library features a separate mechanical system for temperature control and motorized window shades programmed to lower during the afternoon sun.

A very European design, the library features a handcrafted spiral staircase to connect all three levels. Its indirectly lit, stair-stepped, octagonal ceiling is a beauty to behold.

The opulent library was built by Louisville Lumber & Millwork of Louisville, Kentucky, and installed by the general contractor.

The custom spiral staircase was constructed by Southeastern Stair and Millwork Company of Cleveland, Tennessee.
